1. Do Not Burn as five or more sunburns doubles your risk of developing skin cancer.

2. Generously Apply Sunscreen using a SPF of 15 or higher for a broad-spectrum of protection from UVA and UVB rays. Reapply every two hours, even on cloudy days, and after swimming or sweating.

3. Wear Protective Clothing such as a long sleeved shirt, pants, sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat where possible.

4. Seek Shade between 10am and 4pm when the UV rays are the strongest. Remember the shadow rule - if you do not cast a shadow while in the sun, it is time to seek shade.

5. Use Extra Caution Near Water, Snow, Sand as they reflect the rays of the sun which can increase your chance of sunburn.

6. Watch the UV Index which is issued daily in selected cities across the country, letting you know when it is safe and when it is not safe to be out in the sun.

7. Get Your Vitiman D Safely through a diet with supplements and foods rich in vitiman D. Do not seek the sun for vitiman D.
