ITEMS NEEDED:
#64725 10 qt Dish Pan
#64713 9” Colander
#66545 Onion/Vegetable Chopper
#47821 Wide Mouth Quart Jars (in stores only)
#64712 Canner with Rack
Bread and Butter Pickles:
24 cucumbers
12 onions
1/2 cup salt
1 quart vinegar
5 cups sugar
2 teaspoon white mustard seed
2 teaspoons celery seed
2 teaspoons turmeric
1. Slice cucumbers and onions.
2. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup salt and let stand about 3 hours.
3. Put vinegar, sugar and spices into pot and bring to a hard boil.
4. Drain cucumbers and onions.
5. When vinegar starts to boil add cucumbers and onions, bring to scalding point.
6. Pack in jars and seal while hot.
7. After the jars cool, store them in a cool and dark place for at least 2 months. |
