5 Stars Spreader Model 250, w/ steel hopper

Chuck Moltz - small farmer, food plot growth & maintenance from VA wrote (September 20, 2016):

I purchased a P250 in 2005 in order to spread lime & fertilizer on food plots. I still use it on food plots, but expanded to commercial soybeans in 2006. After 10 years of use, this product continues to operate as it did when new. I follow a simple maintenance process that includes (1)a thorough hose down after each use, (2) storage under shelter, (3) occasional grease to the single fitting, (4) annual greasing of the PTO shaft ends, and (5)a spray down at the end of the season with a lubricating spray (MPL from Advance Auto). Bottom line: you can get years of service from these spreaders with basic maintenance.

5 Stars A no-nonsense spreader at a great price

Robert Fee from AZ wrote (August 02, 2016):

I bought my first P-250 about ten years ago, and it worked flawlessly until only recently when the gearbox seal disappeared and the u-joint started to wobble. the unit still operated just fine, but I thought the wobble might turn into something worse in the future. I ordered the new style gearbox which is significantly beefier than the original and planned on swapping it out, but a neighbor who couldn't find anything in the price range bought my 10-year-old spreader and shiny new gearbox. I used the money to order a new unit that comes with the new style gear box. I saw it as a win-win. This unit sat under the Arizona sun, and the paint looks like the day I bought it. Don't be fooled by poly bins. They fade, crack and ultimately disintegrate. The steel bin and heavy duty hardware of the P-250 make this spreader one tough mother.
