I LOVE my fluted bundt pan. I use a lot of eggs in my cakes. as they have to be gluten free. The eggs sub for wheat to give the cake structure. I also use a pound cake recipe, which calls for a cup of butter. I love that the crust is crunchy, but the inside crumb is tender. I will be buying as a gift for a friend who also appreciates cast iron cookware. The trick to using cast iron for cakes is that you heat the pan in the oven while you make your cake. I've seen videos where the pan is buttered after heating, but with two sticks of butter in the batter, it's not going to meld with the pan. I've never had a cake stick. That's the hack - searing the batter before it goes into the oven. If you are gluten-free, you know you have to work a little harder to pack some flavor into your cakes and breads. For breads, next time you are boiling potatoes, boil a few extra. Peel when cool enough to handle. If I'm not using them immediately, they go into the freezer. I use a (thawed and mashed) half cup of potato for every loaf, so essentially, you're making potato bread.. This gives you a better structure and flavor. I also put a half cup into my cake batters for better flavor. Also, for cakes, I boost the flavor by adding just one very ripe banana into my batter. Not enough that it tastes like a banana bread, just enough that you get a subtle flavor. It works really well with the vanilla that's called for in the recipe. Last time I baked one of these cakes, on the second day, I sliced the cake, but the pieces on a baking sheet and baked them at 350 degrees till they were brown and crisp. Sort of like a biscotti. Also delicious.
These cast iron pans from Agri Supply are a timeless piece of kitchen heirloom that can be handed down. They are on the same level as Lodge Cast Iron. There’s many a variety of things that can be done with these pans. My lemon cakes popped out and pound cakes popped out just like they were supposed to. Make sure you grease and dust your pan with flour. Take off the excess, just tap it out and they will pop out every time. A few more………and I will have a baker’s dozen! Thank you Agri Supply!
The cost of this cast iron pan makes it so affordable. I few blemishes in the pan but doesn’t affect the performance of the pan.
I love this pan! After looking for a long time this pan has surpassed my expectations! Compared to other brands this is a killer price! Plus my cake came out perfect with the first use!
I'm in the process of changing my cookware to cast iron. This was the only place I could find a fluted bundt pan for a reasonable price. I used it today to make monkey bread that is very sticky. It turned out great and I was able to remove from pan with no problem. Love this pan. It will last a very long time.
I bought it for the price, and to compare how it works to my Lodge. It works great 👍👍
This Bundt pan is the best. I was very hesitant at first as I bought it specifically for a homemade rum cake I make a lot. You have to pour a sugary rum base over the cake once cooked but before you take out of pan. I wasn’t sure it could come out in ONE piece. My urge pans did but this one was sooooo pretty and I wanted to say I used CAST IRON. Well it passed the test with OVER flying colors. If you are remotely considering this, don’t delay. I’m now saving to purchase all the cookware from Carolina cast iron cookware. I have 3 other items but want the entire set!!!
