I bought this scope to move dirt and mulch behind my John Deere 4100 Compact tractor. I can back into a pile of loose dirt and completely fill the scoop. Dump action is a complete empty. I did add four 13/16 washers on either side between the bucket and the angle iron frame. As assembled the sides of the bucket were bowed outward, and the dump action had considerable resistance. Adding the eight washers solved that issue. Another modification it made was to the two large washers on the outside of the pivot bolt. When I removed them to add the eight washers above I noted both outer washers were bent. They bent because they are large enough to straddle the angle iron above the pivot flange. I cut about 1/4 inch across the top of each outer washer, allowing them to rest flat against the pivot flange. Even as a small 24 inch scope this thing will carry a full wheelbarrow load of dirt or mulch - and I never touch a shovel or push a wheel barrow. Four stars because for five bucks the manufacture could have installed two bushings and made sure the out washers lie flat on the flange. But, that aside, it works as advertised. I would definitely buy it again.
Works great you will need to get big washers as spacer between the bucket and frame, other than that everything works just fine. The two gentlemen at lumberton nc agrisupply took time and helped me quickly assemble it. Thanks lumberton agrisupply
DON'T CUT THE TRIP LEVER! It works fine, you just flip the scoop up and it locks in place, there is some flex in the thing! Works fine on Kubota BX1500. Used 4 big washers on the outside of the scoop on the big bolts...could have provided a collar or some washers with it. Mike
The 30" did not fit my tractor so called AS and ordered 24" and it was waiting on me when I returned the 30". Service from AS was outstanding. Ran into same issues with prior comments, I put 4 washers per side, but had to cut 1/2 inch off the release latch to make it work. Not really a complaint, it will work depending on your situation. Will scoop 4 CF of mulch, and light duty for a 15-30 tractor. Beats hauling mulch in a wheelbarrow. I am giving 5 stars for the customer service since I bought the scoop.
If all you have to move material with is a shovel and a wheelbarrow - this scoop will make you think you died and went to heaven. Takes a little adjusting of the top link to get the right pitch, but in just a few minutes I had it working like a charm.
I bought this scoop to move dirt and gravel from the bottom of my drive to the top. My JD 650 works well with this scoop and my job use has expanded to moving mulch and brick. Rope occasionally tangles for the release bar but I haven't had to get off my seat yet. May sell this scoop to a friend and buy the 30" as I believe my tractor will handle it. It's much better than using a wheel barrow!
The best thing about this scoop is the low price, however this scoop has pretty thin steel used for the actual scoop (the 3 pt frame is plenty heavy). I am using for mulch so OK but don't think it would hold up to heavy digging. I also didn't like that only one set of Cat 1 pins were provided. Since scoop is reversible both ends should have pins not just one end (unless you want to unbolt the pins every time you want to reverse the scoop). So plan on getting another set of pins when you buy this scoop. Also you will need some big washers. The scoop is about an inch and a half narrower than the frame but they don't give you any type of spacers so the bolts the scoop pivots on try to bend the sides out when you tighten them down. I stacked washers in the gaps and works good.
Works good for the money and a heck of a lot better than shoveling dirt. Took a little bit to figure out how to make it work best. Once used to operating it, all is smooth.
