This doesn't have the horsepower to cut good fresh potatoes. Mine just arrived. I bought it to process a bushel of potatoes that just came out of the garden. The first potato was just a medium white one, nothing spectacular. The cutter did eventually make it into fries but it was a very difficult three tries. I guess it is alright for a few cuts now and then, on store-bought soft potatoes, but I should have gotten one of the big metal ones with the long handle and plenty of leverage to get through a whole batch of potatoes right now.

I love these for the price. Buy 3. If you use it carefully it will last a long time but after a year using it daily the handle may start giving. But 3 for 30 bucks for mucho fries 365 x 3 days make me happy happy.
