Product Overview

Gulf annual ryegrass seed is a popular grass seed sown in the southeast for an economical turf or a nutritious livestock pasture. Annual ryegrass seed can also be used for erosion control, general turf and winter over seeding of lawns, roadsides, and other turf areas, cover crop, and weed suppression.

Annual ryegrass has a high yield potential and with the correct elements will establish quickly. Normal germination time is 7-10 days. Gulf annual ryegrass is compatible with water logged and compacted soils.

Gulf annual ryegrass is a cool climate and robust grass seed so it is a great choice for a livestock food option in the late fall and winter. The ryegrass is hardy and left uncut it will grow 2 to 4 feet high.

Used as a cover crop, ryegrass will help build soil and release stored soil nutrients. It will provide organic matter for better soil structure and help resist erosion.
