Lot of oak canes out there, but hickory is harder and stronger, and also harder to find. As for length being proper, I am 5'10", 30" inseam, and 33" is perfect without excess elbow bend or shoulder hunching up. I ordered 3ea, cheap enough do that and have pick of litter. It is primarily an ag tool, so don't expect flawless fit and finish since they come from a hickory tool handle factory in TN, but still attractive, straight grained and straight, period. These have a far more open crook than most, and a good thing to have when hanging over arm.
If curious as to how to tell what length right for you, simply stand relaxed and hold a yard stick butted on floor against leg, and at first wrist crease above heel of palm, take your measurement. 6ft+ people need to be looking at the 36" or longer canes, but this 33" or shortened will work for a great many folk.

Lance from OK
Sturdy cane
This shopper rated the product 4 out of 5 stars
Have been using canes for about one year due to balance problem. Cane is 33 inches tall which is OK for me being only 5 ft 6. However, a taller person will need to find a longer one. Does not include a safety tip. Tips are available from Amazon priced $5.00 for two including free shipping -- order the one inch size. I will get a couple more to keep in vehicles and by doors to be available when needed. I recommend the product for someone my size.
