Gardening Supplies

There are plenty of things you need to know before planting a garden such as the climate and temperate zone. Fruits, vegetables, and herbs require, above all, sunlight and water. Plants that have to compete with other plants for sun or water will leave you with a disappointing yield or worse – they will wilt and die. Pay attention to how much sun and the spacing suggested when planting to help your garden thrive.

Use loose soil when planting. Those roots need to “root” around and get a good foundation set and they will appreciate freshly tilled and/or loamy soil to make themselves at home. Using raised beds, ridges, or hills will help keep the plants from too much water during those spring rain showers that bring several inches of rain in a short period of time.

Higher quality and hybrid seeds usually help fend off diseases that will harm your plants. There isn’t much more disappointing than to helplessly watch a plant suffer once a disease begins discoloring and wilting your hard work.

If you are just starting out and looking for ideas on what to grow in addition to your own, consider tomatoes, squash, pole beans, or carrots. These are very easy to grow with minimal care. And check out our garden supplies for all of your needs.
